Dear friends,

This is my first post in this forum.
I am from Balochistan. I wonder how many of you actually heard of it? It’s my homeland where I live and breath, but it’s under Pakistani and Iranian rules. In these two countries there is no human rights.
Do you believe it, in this 21st century we don’t have clean water, no electricity, no roads, no school, no hospitals, nothing.
Balochistan is one of the richest lands in the world and it’s almost half the landmass in Pakistan, but its kept backward by the Pakistani government.
We got all kind of minerals in Balochistan, oil, gold, copper, gas and many more. You name it you’ll find it there. But in Balochistan we still burn wood for cocking and in other areas of Pakistan, they got gas pipelines, but in Balochistan there is none. Even the area where the gas comes from there is no gas for the local to use…
When our people raise their voice for their rights, they are being killed. There is a military operation going on now in that area, many innocent Baloch are being killed everyday, simply coz they are asking the government to implement the promise which it made in 1952 and 1973 and give us our rights. but the pakistan government replying with machine guns and bullets...

Hi Makurani and welcome to StrategyTalk Very Happy
Yes, I have heard of your homeland before...but I personally was not aware of the situation that you and your countrymen have to live under. Thanks for bringing 'this' to my/our attention Sad
I am not representative of the average ST poster who 'is/might be' more aware of your plight...and for this reason I really enjoy being at ST to learn more about my/our world. Thank you and I/we expect to hear much more from you. Thanks for being here!

Makurani, you and I have had some dialogue in the Baloch forum, and I am happy to see you posting here.

I'm wondering what you think of this thread that I posted late last year:

Is There a Plan to Break up Pakistan?

Feel free to post there with your thoughts.

I've always thought that if the US-Pakistan relationship goes sour, the US might have an interest in promoting a free and independent Balochistan- as a bulwark against both Iran and Pakistan, and as a possible oil pipeline route.

Dear friends,

Thanks a lot for taking interest in my country and my problems.

Yes, I think the USA government has a great interest in Balochistan for many reasons:
1- Pakistan is a burden on the USA. It totally depends on the US aids to survive. Its 85% of the budget goes to the military, which doesn’t pay back the debts.

2- Pakistan is too corrupt to be brought back to the civilized world. No government ever completed his 5 years in the office. And the only ex-ruler living in Pakistan is Mr. Jamali who was recently forced to resign by general Musharraf. The rest either hanged, bombed or in exile in corruption cases.

3- Pakistan is no use to the USA economically or strategically after the cold war and the government change in Afghanistan and USA friendship ties with India.

4- Pakistan is a fundamental country, and the pro Taliban forces are getting more and more stronger in Pakistan after losing ground in Afghanistan. To stop the fundamentalism in the region, Pakistan has to be vanished, as its known to everybody they are the ones who brought Taliban into the power in Afghanistan.

5- Pakistan has got nuke, and it’s very unsafe. As we all saw the Pakistani scientists selling nuke formulas to Iran, Libya and North Korea. And the same nuke can fall in the wrong hands in Pakistan and can cause a disaster.

6- On the other hand Balochistan is a very rich country with all the natural resources (natural gas, fuel, gold, silver, copper, marble and many more) and more than 305,000 square km which is almost 50% of the total landmass of Pakistan.

7- Balochistan has got almost 90% of the total coastal area.

8- Balochistan is living in the 15th century, so the American companies can work there for at least half a century to bring Balochistan close to the 21st century.

9- Balochistan`s population is only 6 million comparing to the Pakistani population which is 140 million, so its much easier for the USA to satisfy 6 million rather than 140 million.

10- Balochistan can be a great help to the USA to pressurize Iran as there is a Balochistan province occupied by Iran, which is the continuation of the Baloch land.

11- Balochistan`s location is just perfect in the middle of the old world between Europe and Asia. Connecting land lock Asian countries and China with the Arabian Sea and guarding the sea from the north.

12- Balochistan is under the focus from all over the world, especially from China, as Pakistan has got strong connection with China.

I think these are the main reason which makes USA think seriously about breaking up Pakistan...

thanks JLK, yes we had some discussion there...

dear readers,

The people in my homeland are still drinking contaminated water. and 1000s of them die every year... Sad

This article is from an official newspaper...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUETTA, July 8: At least five people, including three women, have died after drinking contaminated water in a village in Wadh tehsil.

"Five people died after using contaminated rainwater gathered in a pond and 50 other villagers fell ill," a local doctor said in Wadh on Thursday.

The condition of at least eight people was serious; sources said and added that they had been admitted to the Wadh civil hospital. According to the sources after heavy rain in the area floodwater from mountains gathered in a pond used by the people of Thelsi village.

After using the contaminated water, people suffered severe stomach pain and the condition of 15 of them became serious. Three women, a child and a man died during the last two days.

Hospital sources said particles of animal and human faeces were found in the pond. A specimen of the water had been sent for laboratory analysis, they said. Khuzdar District Health Officer Dr Elahi Bakhsh said medical teams had been sent to the village.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its very hard to imagine our life back home... Shocked

There are some simple cheap technologies that might help regarding safe water. ... Here is a picture of one using a small sheet of plastic.

Pretty simple and it will keep you alive even if there is nothing around but cactus to use as a source. Would probably work a lot better if you had an actual water source and simply wanted to make it safe. Not exactly an elegant answer, but it probably beats bloody diarrhea any day of the week. If it makes you feel any better, these kinds of problems are not limited to poorer nations. Affluent people often come to my area to mountain bike and think that they can drink from beautiful clear, pristine, pure (looking) mountain streams ... often after a local warns them against it. There is an endemic bug here called giardia and people often leave with a bit more than their pretty pictures and luggage.

Dear friends,

As I noticed, some of you even never heard of Balochistan then I`m not expecting you to know what’s happening there.
I`m writing this post to inform you, in the civilized world, what injustice is happening to my people in my homeland.

When they offered us to join Pakistan in 1947, after it got its independent from British, they offered us full autonomy and a fair share of everything, but our parliament refused to join them. Then they attacked Balochistan and occupied it. People went to the mountains to fight a guerilla war against the Pakistani government but they were cheated again in the name of talk and discussion. They were all hanged to the death, when they came down for negotiation with the government.

Balochistan is a very rich country of natural resources but its people are not getting even one proper meal a day. No basic facilities are found there
SUI gas is very famous in Pakistan, which comes from an area called SUI in Balochistan but the people of SUI use wood to cook. All what they get from the gas field is pollution.
There is SANDAK project as well, its gold, silver and copper mines are making Pakistan a rich country, but Balochistan is getting nothing out of it.

My last visit to Balochistan was in this month. I went to the eastern part of Balochistan (SUI area) People there only have a cup of tea in the morning and only one meal in the evening, that’s it.

Now when people started to ask for their rights, as they are more educated and getting to understand their rights, the Pakistani government is trying to crush them.
There is a military operation going on in Balochistan now in several areas, in KOHLO (SUI area) and MAKURAN. Hundreds of people are put in jails and many of them are shot dead, they are using heavy machinery including helicopters to fight the unarmed protesters.

The only reason nobody hears about them coz there are nothing other than these people living there, although its almost 48% of Pakistani landmass there is no communication facilities and they are isolated from the outside world and the Pakistani government doesn`t want the world to know anything about them coz they are freedom fighters asking for their rights. Unlike what’s happening in WANA where Pakistan is announcing it coz they are terrorist and the government is fighting them…

I ask you, as a civilized person living in a civilized world
Why can`t we live in our country and own our resources?
Why it’s a crime to ask for our rights?
Why the kids in Balochistan don`t have a school?
Why my language is banned in my village?
Why can`t I have two meals a day?
Why there isn`t even a single hospital in Balochistan?
Why can`t I get a job in Balochistan?
Why don`t I have electricity and water in my village?
Why there are no roads in Balochistan?
Why do I have to die if I ask for my basic rights?
Why do they want to kill me?
Why do they say “we want Balochistan not Baloch people?”

Please somebody answer these questions…

makurani

dear friends,

These are from some news cuttings from Balochistan...

BLACK DAY: The Baloch Students Organization has announced that it will observe 'Black Day' for three days from Wednesday to condemn a search operation launched in Turbat and other areas of the Makran coastal belt.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club here on Tuesday, student leader Imdad Baloch criticized what he called atrocities and excesses committed by the law-enforcement agencies at the behest of the Punjab leadership against innocent Balochs.

He said the army on Monday launched a search operation in Makran with the help of helicopters to harass natives and arrested many people, besides insulting women. The action, he alleged, had been taken against the people who were opposing the so-called mega projects.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mand a city on Iranian border is closed down business and the life is in still stop in a campaign against Pakistani government military operation in the area and arresting several innocent people. All political parties and student organizations taking part in the protest against the government including, Baloch National Movement, National Party, Jamayat Ulmaa islam and Baloch Student Organization.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nawab Akbar Bugti, chief of Bugti tribe and ex-chief minister of Balochistan chief of JWP said. The pakistani government is pushing us for an armed struggle and we`ll never hesitate to do it if the government continue its military operation in Balochistan.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sardar Attullah Mengal, chief of mengal tribe and ex- chief minister and governor of Balochistan, talking to UNA news agency. said this operation will not be contained within Makuran it will soon spread to every part of Balochistan and we’ll fight against it if we are forced for it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chirman Ghulam Mohd ex-chairman of BSO and president of Baloch National Movement said he`s not afraid of being assassinated by the Pakistani military. He`ll continue his fight against Pakistani government for Baloch land.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to asaapnewspublications, there were 4 military helicopters involve in this operation and several military men and civilians killed. Still there is no news about the causalities from the freedom fighters side. In a phone call to the news agency BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) took responsibility of attacking military forces and threatened to launch more attack across the country if they don`t stop the aggressive operation against Baloch public.

Hello and welcome...

If I'm not mistaken, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the man who conceived and directed the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, is from Baluchestan. So, the US might have an interest there now.

Makurani My Friend...it is good to hear from you again. Thank you for the links to your country and your people. The pictures of the landscapes of your country is very similiar to the southwestern part of the United States where I live. There is no doubt your friends/families have a very hard life and you do have a very beautiful country as we also have...and I hope these words are honored:
Quote:
IF I DIE AND THE HEAVEN DOESN`T ACCEPT ME
PLEASE TAKE ME STRAIGHT TO BALOCHISTAN

...Well, I have faith THE HEAVEN will accept you and yours and you all will be taken to 'THE BALOCHISTAN HEAVEN'....but during 'the mean times'...work hard and diligently and hopefully 'the mean times' will become better...and the sooner the better. Very Happy
I have much to learn about your country and 'I hope my country can' somehow 'be a better friend' 'to you and yours'.
Take care and be safe. Your Friend FC
p.s. Until Artos mentioned the fact....I was not aware that Khalid Muhammed came from your country. Is there a lot of anti-American feelings in your part of your country??

US had interest in my country long before Khalid Shaikh Mohd or anybody else.
These interests are political and economical, coz of Balochistan`s wealth and location...

PostPosted: Thu Jul 29, 2004 5:11 pm    Post subject: NO ANTI-AMERICAN FEELING IN BALOCHISTAN Reply with quote

Dear FC Mellon,

Thanks for the reply. Actually I learnt this Quote from your country when I visited Florida 7 years ago. I saw this on somebody`s T-SHIRT, which says:

IF I DIE AND THE HEAVEN DOESN`T ACCEPT ME
PLEASE TAKE ME STRAIGHT TO PUERTO RICO

So I changed Puerto Rico to Balochistan. Hope you don`t mind.

And about Khalid, no he is not a Baloch. He was born and raised in Kuwait. His father used to live and work a long time ago somewhere in Balochistan. But he is not a Baloch. His father got married in Balochistan but I`m not too sure if that lady is Baloch or not.
Khalid never lived in or visited Balochistan coz he doesn`t have any relations there, so he didn`t learn anything in Balochistan. He was a jihadi muslim trained by Pakistanis. He never considered himself as Baloch. He never said that.Nobody knew anything about him in my country until he appeared on TV screens and everybody was chocked to hear them saying he`s a baloch.
Even if he is half Baloch, still that doesn`t mean we have got anti-American feelings. Coz even one of American boys was caught fighting against American forces in Afghanistan, that doesn`t mean there are anti-American feelings in the US. And moreover one single person doesn`t represent the whole nation.

Many Americans are still working there for US aid to Balochistan. There are many American NGO`s in my homeland. Some of them are there since the cold war era, but till now nobody was ever harmed by a Baloch.
So that tells you, we have nothing against you or your country or even against Pakistan.
It’s the Pakistani media, which is putting everything on us.
There are many Pakistanis and Afghanis living and working in Balochistan(they are taking our jobs), none of them was ever hurt by us till now.

We are not angels but we are respectful human beings. We taught respect and love at home…

I hope that answers your question. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. I`ll try to answer you as much as o know...

Makurani..
